Hey guys and gals. New guy here. Getting back into the sled world. Just picked up what I think was a steal. A 2001 SRX700 with M10 suspension. Paid $1000. Has 7000 miles on it. No real issues that I found yet. The miles don't bother me. I've been rebuilding motorcycles for 25 years.
So 1 question is, I've read where peeps say you need to raise the front of the srx if you put high suspension on it. I've read about flipping and swapping sides with the upper shock mount. My question is, is it really necessary? If it were, why does Fast not offer front "leveling" kits with their products nor mention anything about needing to. And unless I misread, the front suspension of the srx and sxr are the same height. So I don't see the need. Am I missing something?
It has cheapo ski's on it. Any recommendations? And carbide length? Mostly trail riding.
Any other thoughts or suggestions on what to look for? I'll be tearing it down soon to inspect everything.
Thanks!

Welcome to Totally Yamaha. I would ride it before making any changes.

As Mac stated, get a baseline before changes are made. As far as skis go... swap meets are coming up. Will you be 50/50 trail & powder?

70/30 I'd say. Thanks for the swap meet idea. Didn't think about those.

As long as you'd be on the trail 70% of the time, take that money that was earmarked for new skis and get the best skegs on the market. Yours should be TP8-Q15. They make all the difference in the world.
