So I just picked up this 01 SRX700. As I do with all my bikes when I first get them, I tear them down to inspect everything. So I started to tear down the SRX. I'm new to these sleds and been out of the whole sled game for many years. BTW, the cylinder PSI's are 120, 120, 100. And when I looked at it, it started on the first pull. Also hasn't been ridden in a couple years.
I removed the middle cylinder exhaust pipe (120 psi) and it rattled inside. I found this.
So I'm just starting my power valve search and figure out how it's supposed to look and work. I assume this is wrong. Seems like they should be attached to the cable.
Very disappointing. Any advice is welcome. Should have got the SXR I had my eye on.... I only looked at this one because it has M10 suspension on it.

Yes thats not correct. The power valve either pulled thru the end of the valve or the cable broke the lead end off.
A pv got to the exhaust without a major damage to the engine? This is as incredible as the mouse/mice that had gotten inside that motor.

get another power valve and cable complete. you will be good to go. crap oil cause that. my guess never cleaned and stuck and valve ended up inside motor. very very lucky, could of been huge damage. 3:16x (yammie tony)

So here are the cylinders. As stated before, Cyl #1 was the lower 100 PSI compression. Cyl #2 had the PV in the exhaust.
Cyl #1 piston. (#2 and 3 have no piston damage)
Here is the only damage I see from the missing PV in Cyl #2. I'm assuming I will need a new jug.

I see a 98/ 99 and 00-02 SRX's have different OEM Cylinder part #'s. I assume that means there was a change. So I'll need a cylinder from a 01 specifically. Am I correct? Anyone got one? lol
Also, I see one on ebay that has the same 8DN10 on it, but it has Y2 where mine has Y1 on it. Is that the year?
Thanks!

Is it necessary to replace the boots?

Depends on how good the boots seat. As far as Cylinders. they should all be interchangeable on the SRX700.

I think they will seat fine. I was just looking at the delamination of the red coating.

Ya thats not good to have the sucked into the motor or have it stuck in the reeds.

Damn, I am loosing my touch.. forgot about the porting changes they made. Well as long as a guy replaces them all, he would be fine.
