I know it doesn't fit what you're looking for, but I am a little partial to Suzuki sportbikes. Anyway, here is a couple good sportbike sites that I frequent....
www.gixxer.com (suzuki of course)
and
www.tristatesportbikes.com (variety of sportbike info).
As for the Yamaha, if you are interested,
www.R1-forum.com
www.R6-forum.com
and
www.R6.com
I can't say anything for the Yamaha forums as I have never visited them, but just remember some word of them in passing through the other above mentioned sites.
Good luck, and for sportbikes, check out the Suzuki GSXR!
This months Sportbike Magazine has a good write up on the new yamaha and honda 600 bikes.

how funny, talking about sportbike forums in February. With no snow on the ground and near 50 degree weather, what the hell else is there to do?

Yeah, stuntlife is another decent forum.
And for the 15000 RPM, that is pretty standard redline for sportbikes. Some just a little under and some just a little over. My Gixxer 600 hits 14,500 I think, but the Kawi 636 rips out at around 16,000. Either way the power is just about flattened out from mid/high 13,000 to redline on most machines. But no matter how you look at it, not much beats the feeling of tearing out from what feels like an idle at 8,000 rpm to 14,000/16,000.

It's friggin 50 in february (pure B/S), and I'm getting the itch just talking about riding the bike. What has this winter dwindled to?
