I have an airbox from a 99 and one from an 01. The 01 has plug holders on the side, no notches for the throttle and oil cables on the top part. The 99 box has no plug holders, and it has a portion in the front to hold a few wires in place. Kind of hard to explain, but you may get my drift.

ya, I get what you mean and thanks for the feedback, but is there any difference in geometry and design that would sacrifice performance? will a 98-99 fit in a 2001? thanks!!!!

I used the box from an 01 in my 99 with no problems, so I see no reason why it wouldn't work the other way. I just took my 01 box off because I found it somehow got a hole about 2 inches long and 1 inch wide on the bottom of it. Could have been from when my sled rolled, but I'm not sure. In either case, I think you will be fine with the 98-99 box.

The 00-02 airbox has the shelf removed. You can do this to a 98-99 but you might want to jet up.

the 98-99 internally is the same the horizontal is still there same as 00-02. but the 98-99 had 2 vertical dividers as well. So if you're putting a 99 on your 01 take the 2 vertical pieces out and it will perform the same as the original 01 box

I bought my '01 SRX used, and the airbox is completely empty.
Based on what I've just read, it sounds like the 00-02 airbox have neither a horizontal shelf (Turk) nor the vertical dividers (800). Am I correct?
Also, it came with the Bender fresh-air kit, and the airbox has extra intake holes cut into the top of it.
To summarize, what I'm hoping someone can answer is:
1. What dividers or shelf (if any) is inside the stock '01 airbox?
2. Does the install of the Bender fresh-air kit require modifications to the airbox in any way?
Thank you!!
Dave

the 00 and up just has a horizontal shelf, they may have taken the shelf out for the Bender kit. Not sure, but I do know they add holes to the top of the box

I just checked out the Bender site, and they offer two different jetting kits for the cold air intake, based on the two different ways the intake kit can be installed: with or without gutting the airbox.
In either case, the jetting should have been altered from stock, and I think my jets are stock!! I'll have to check my notes this weekend.
