I am debating on powder coating my pipes and not putting the covers back on what does everyone do

Something like this works well when sandwiched between the pipe and shield. It stops the rattling and helps retain heat within the pipe.

I just used gear clamps. After replacing all my donuts this year I noticed how much they rattled. They are tight now.

those heat shields are there to keep the pipe temp constant and therefore your engine performance constant. A cold pipe will lower rpm, you wont outthink the technology Yamaha put into the exhaust system on a srx, even the stock heavy muffler works better then aftermarket loud cans do. the best thing is to keep the exhaust stock on a srx unless a full mod race engine.
