Hi everyone. first post. i looked around in the forums for a good step by step way too remove the airbox so i can clean the carbs and get to the fuel pump? i just got it and the service manual isnt a whole lot help. its a 2001 sxr 700.

It's not that bad of a job, unscrew the 3 coil packs and set them off to the side then remove the 10mm bolt under the stearing cowl then unscrew the 6 or 8 screws holding the top and bottom sections of the air box together. Now you should be able to remove the top half of the air box, then unscrew the 2 screws holding the valve for the carb heaters next unscrew the 2 screws holding the cdi box on then loosen the screws on the clamps on the carb boots ( just the ones on the carb not the air box ones) and bottom air box should come off. If i didnt forget anything.

hey great thanks that was helpful. i left the coilpacks on and just left the top of the box off to the side. pretty easy. now to set up the carbs. doesnt run mint in the midrange. they are clean *** a whistle but i couldnt read any of the jet numbers. and the pilot screws were at 1 5/8 turns. i think for my altitude at 750 feet they should be at 1 1/2. and when i stop at a crossing at doesnt want to move if i ease into the throttle, i gotta go hard on the gas. maybe i should start checking out the clutches and start reading. thanks again
