Sled is 01 700. Runs pretty strong, but it still uses more fuel than my 98. Is there something I can check with the carbs? The only symptoms are that it is a liitle hard to start when it has been sitting for a long time(shutting down with the choke helps though)and when you come to a stop it takes a while for the idle to come back down. I did drop the jetting to run a little leaner and the plugs look nice and light brown. Please help, I don't like my brother beating me at the pumps with his 700 twin! :o|

check powervalves,
check powervalve motor is accually opening
check that choke curcit is closing all the way
check that floats are set to 14mm
check all needle settings, mains, and pilots are correct
swap cdi box with a known good sled, sometimes the box is programed wrong, not often but it happens.
check all parts of clutches, make sure the springs havent sagged
check clutch alignment.
and last, if you have installed an aftermarket track it may be dragging and need to be notched for guards
all this affects fuel milage

I have already done the power valves with bender harness, had a secondary problem which is better now, alignment is good, have new belt, 8400 rpm all the way. I am suspicious of the choke, though. The plungers seem to go back in all the way and go to the two positions, but the first stage of the choke doesn't seem to affect the engine when it is warm. I even forgot and left it on once and engine ran fine. They may be staying on a little bit but i can't tell if they are hung up in the carbs. How do you adjust the plungers? How far in are they supposed to go in the carb? Thanks for the help. Btw this sled runs 195 kph on the speedo and it regularly beats up on 800's and f7's at the radar gun, but it is empty after about 180 km and buddy gets close to 250km on tank of fuel!
