Hey, I am troubleshooting a no spark condition on my 2000 srx700, and am wondering if I did the check properly. With my multimeter on the a.c. voltage setting the highest I was seeing was 12.5 volts when pulling checking across the white stator wires with it unplugged from the harness. Does this seem right?

its most likely the pick up coil or the magnets on outside of flywheel are rusted, put your meter on the pick up coil wires and see if you have varying voltage when you pull it over. stators seldomly go bad to cause a no spark they just get weak and show low rpm.

It is varying under 1 volt

I only have .309 coming from the pickup. Tested at the plug and cdi. Is that to low

yes, that would be low, are the magnets rusty on outside of flywheel?

Tonight I pulled the flywheel off and cleaned up the surface rust. It wasn't very bad but I figured it was worth a shot. Still don't have spark. I think I will stop in at port Yamaha tomorrow after work and order a stator.

THere are good used ones on eBay very reasonable with pickup coil. Cause they don’t go out that often.
