I bought my first yamaha this year and did not really have anytime or anywhere to go through it. I have put about 300 miles on so far and noticed that the valves must be sticking. It would run like it is loaded up, and then every now and then run great. So, I dropped it off at a great Yammi dealer and they are going to go through the sled with a fine tooth comb. Clean and adjust powervalves, carbs, clutches, track tension, chain case, etc.. So my question is, What should I expect from this sled once it's been gone through? do you think it will be night and day?

snowaddict, I have owned one for 4 seasons now and have no complaints on the sled I have 8700 miles and the sled still flys! I have done some work on it, Long travel kit (rear), trail clutch kit, New 1.25 Ripsaw track. Only other things I have done to the sled was from normal wear and tear. The sled used to run about 122-124 top end on speedo until I put the Ripsaw on this year best top speed about 115. The ripsaw overall is a great improvement over the stock track. I did not pic the new track do to clearence issue but really havent needed to! ( ICE DRAGGING not good without pics) Snow drags much better hook up than even the stock track with 144 pics. The ride and handleing of this sled is great! I ride mostly trails and the 50-90MPH Mid range power band is still a were the fun is! Get your shocks recharged every year and you will enjoy the ride! Enjoy your SRX and if you have any questions give me a shoot! Terry

yea we had a '98 for a few years. We just sold it about 5 months ago with 9,000 miles on it. The powervalves were only cleaned once and they looked VERY clean, some people just seem to have better luck than others with those. The biggest factors are the oil used, the oil ratio, and the type of riding. Those things are BULLETPROOF though, they seem to run forever with some minimal maintenance. Tons of power as well, which means kick a$$ acceleration if you have a good track, and awesome top speed. Get great gas mileage as well. Just all around excellent sleds. Put a long travel kit on the suspension and it will likely be the best sled you have ever ridden.

Thanks guys! I have a ZRT600 that is no slouch so I'm really looking forward to opening this sled up when it's all tuned up. It has a M-10 in it and I really have enjoyed that. Handles the bumps like a dream. It has a so-so 1.25in track on it now, but im thinking of getting a ripsaw for next year.

The M10 will DEFINATELY make it ride like a dream, but it takes away a lot of acceleration and top end speed because of its ride height and lack of weight transfer. Just telling you this so that you aren't dissappointed with the performance, thinking it is the fault of the engine or anything. The 1.25 track will also rob some top speed as well. Both great add-ons though if top speed isn't the most important thing.

hmm i must need a clutch setup bad cause i put the ripsaw on my sxr and was gettin the same top speed this season as i was last season.
