Just wanted you guys to know that I wrote Mr. Black to let him know how I feel about his article...This is what I said:
Hello Mr. Black,
My name is Andy and I am an avid snowmobiler in the USA. Just want to let you know that I read your article entitled "Monkey See, Monkey Skidoo". I think you should know that it was very disapointing to read your "theory" on snowmobiling and what it "so-called" entails. I'm not so much disappointed in the slam to our sport/passion, but I am more disappointed in the incredible disregard to facts or the truth about snowmobiling. Where did you find your stats? You might consider reading-up on your subect before you open your trap! Today's snowmobiles are NOT LOUSILY DESIGNED!!!! nor are they emitting or have emitted the levels of toxins of which you exclaimed.
The four major snowmobile manufactures (Polaris, Ski-Doo, Arctic Cat and Yamaha, all posses strong missions to provide the best, most fuel efficient, and noise compliant snowmobiles as possible. If you don't believe me, try reading some time. It's amazing what you might learn. Today's snowmobiles include "Semi-Direct Fuel Injection" and Four-Stroke motors....IF you know any thing about these, they are incredibly effeicient and quiet. They have met and will meet all Federal Guidlines for emissions, noise and fuel consumption. Additionally, if you had a clue, you'd know that the manufactures have spent hundreds of millions of dollars on improving and meeting the demands of the feds and the needs of nature.
The most pathetic and even more telling sign about you, Mr. Black, is when you said "twist the throttle"....interesting, considering that on a snowmobile you "push" a thumb throttle in. Seems like a technicality, but you just proved that you have never ridden a snowmobile. This disproves your other ridiculous assumtion that there is no excercise in snowmobiling!!!! Are you kidding me??? You have no clue what your talking about and you shouldn't have had any right to portray such a lie. Your outright lying and mere speculation is your hipocracy. You claim that snowmobiling is all that is bad for the enviornment, but your lying is what ruins the integrity of journalism and propagates this frivalous attack on snowmobiling.
LASTLY!!!!! You said snowmobilers need to get a life, I say to you Mr. Black... GET A CLUE!!!,... you Indiana Jones wanna be, "out of shape" looking mis-informed, pathetic excuse of a writer...
Signed,
A Snowmobiler that is in better shape then you!!!
"Do you think that did it???" LOL

lol, that is an awesome reply to him. I put one up for him too, under the name michael from waterford, wi. This guy really has a couple screws loose, and is VERY uneducated in his accusations. You would think that a professional journalist would have a little more fact, a little less sole opinion that he makes SOUND like fact. What a donkey.

I feel for the price we pay in permits and insurance there should be a tax break for the land owners who let us ride their property. I think he would like (mr black) children to do drugs and rob people instead of enjoying outdoors in the winter. You can ski, cross country or the many other winter sports available, we choose to ride instead of sitting back and doing drugs. This guy probably drives a suv that gets if he,s lucky 17mpg per gallon instead of driving a hybrid that gets 50 plus per gallon. If he so nature worried he should hike to work instead of not enjoying nature behind the wheel of his vehicle. This is a type of person if you can't enjoy what he likes it is no good. He might even be the person killing the woodpecker because he likes hunting. that would be ok because he enjoys it. I was out hunting one day and I heard voices it was one deer talking to another deer. The one deer said to the other deer it's ok to die today because Mr, black is hunting today and I heard he loves to hunt It's ok!!!!!!!!

I'll bet it was an established trail. If so the land owners shouldn't get a penny. If it wasn't, they should bitch to whoever put it there
I live under the flight path of Detroit Metro, Would I rather they not fly planes? would I like tens of thousands of dollars? yes on both accounts. is it going to happen? should it happen? no on both accounts. I knew what I was getting into. If you don't like what in the neiborhood, don't move there!

This guy is just one more self appointed eliteist that proclaims he knows what is best for everyone. Sits at home on his ***, dreams up how we should all live and then thinks we are all waiting to read his wisdom. Another expert in his own mind.
