Further research is telling me the newer sleds have a much larger dimple for the shaft.

I thought the tunnels were common on all Proaction sleds but there must be a slight difference in the front to allow for the curved SRX steering post.I could have swore I read in a post years ago about people doing the mod your attempting to make room for carb spacers,the another popular mod.I wish I had an answer for you but good luck to you.
