hey there I have a 1998 vmax 600 xtc deluxe. the original motor blew at 16000+ due to the oil pump quitting. on the original motor the water temp light would go on if grandular snow was predent. Ive replaced the engine with a 1997 600 but this year the temp light comes on regularly in any temp from +5 to - 28 and any snow cond (light fluffy to well packed trails)
when replacing the motor i noticed theres no rear tunnel collector or thermostat in my machine but the service manuals for this machine show these parts. there isnt air in the lines been checked twice at the dealers now. using ngk br9es plugs. does any one know about the rear collector? the front and rail collectors are in good shape but its becoming annoying
thx

i was runnin too hot for my comfort with my sxr500 last season so i installed srx rear heat exchanger in it. cooled it down lots and still runs great. rivited right in. only thing i had to do extra was order srx/viper hoses to put on it as my origonal ones wher too small to go over the pipe. i looked at it as cheap insurance against over heating problems.

I think a rear cooler from a 700sx would slap right in with the same hoses. Your temp light sensor, is it the one from your original 600 or the 97? Use the one in your original motor.

thanks for your info everyone im going to install a rear heat exchanger it should work, i was told by a yamaha tech that it would run to cold but im going to try anyways, and put the original sensor back in (never even thought of that) thx

let the snow fly!!!! :rocks:
