It appears the apex gt has GYT front shocks- Does anyone know who (what mfg) is making these for Yamaha?
I am not sure of the spelling but.. seki?? they make alot of jap suspension stuff, I asked the yamaha engineers this same question, he assured me that they are top notch quality. As a matter of fact this year is the first year yamaha accepted fox air float shocks, they finally held up to yamaha's durability test. Those new gyt-r dial shocks are impressive, rebound and dampning dials, thats better then the old sx/ srx ohlins!!

Ohlins are the best..... fox shocks eh are ok in my book but, i hope the gyt's are not like the yokohama tracks they put under y sleds for so many yrs. isnt it funny that y is offering ohlins for the rear skid and not the front, if y really wanted to make a statement why not ohlins alll the way around for 11,000$ i think it should be the riders choice.hey Belueje17 have you done any riding out in eden this year. we got to meet up some time and ride. swap some y talk too....

soquoi maybe? they built shocks for y before awhile back.but i think that was for just 1 yr dont quote me on that though.

havent seen the 06's in person but the oil canister on the gyt clicker front shocks looks wimpy in the pictures compared to the ohlins shocks.yamaha should focus on the suspension, weight, and the engine, they always have good design lines. the rest is just bells and whistles, like this new fangled key wipeee.
go see them, then make judgments
redmater, umm... the engine is entirely new.... its not the rx1 engine, new cases, crank, head, cams, etc. So is the front suspension geometry, rear suspension and the chassis, oh forgot the key...lol, thats why its not called the rx1 anymore. Ya need to go see them before making opinions, the resivors are the same as the ohlins , ohlins does not have rebound and compression knobs now do they???...... go see them before you judge with wrong information.Yamaha did a fantastic job on them.
BTW- the rtx apex is lighter then a mach z equipped with reverse and elec start, ...so they did some more with weight too!!

yamaha owns something like 38% of ohlins....and a lesser control of KYB...
the shocks are made by yamaha's shock company Soqi...they make shock parts and cylinders for "the other guys" ....the head of the motorsports group tells me their engineers came away...very impressed...ohlin like without the cost!

ohlins does have rebound and compression, just that you will pay for them $$$ i have seen them. will go see them, mister viper 700 sir. but to rich for my red blood. they look awsome sounds like they are really nice, but i will wait ti they make 2 stroke clean burn sled 500lbs or less. 90%rider 10% sled.

ok sj we will see how many switch to ohlins fronts on the new models, you get what you pay for, not sold on the idea as of yet....

you know it ...some will switch just to have the "gold" look and perceived benefits...how many ride hard enough to fade a nice quality long travel front shock?
some (like I have wrongfully before) spend money in search of the holy grail...but really now...a shock engineered and built by yammie given the gyt crest I'm sure will be more than fine for 90% of the riders...

I will be very interested to see actual weights of production units.
The fact is all the mfg's lie about the weight, and that is a shame - hopefully snowtech will continue the real world weigh in- wet, no gas.
Red - little snow=little riding: Havent hit 500 miles yet - worst snow year since the early 80's.

Redmatter--- Why is it that every post about the 2006 sleds, your on there bashing them? We get it! you don't like them! Go buy something else then and quit complaining! Or at least go ride one first before you start bitc*ing.

its redmater, and im not bashing,it is just my point of view,i like the new sleds alot,in my geographical area they dont have demo rides the nearest place is 200 miles from where i live, hec they use to bring the snow show where i could go see them, but that dont even happen anymore.so you may think i am bashing them but it is my way of finding out the positives and negatives about them, sorry sx700 and the rest of you guys. i may just stop visiting this site all together?

Redmater - maybe they will have a few new Y's for you to see at the wsa event in your backyard in a few weeks - naturally none will be racing, but I bet they have a few at the ralph or at Berts.

bleueje17 it dont matter, climb on the sx today, and this sled always seems to put a smile on my face and after now going on 8yrs. banged out 75 miles today, this 2 stroke has been around.and still looks and runs great, and still turns a few heads. plus it dont eat much.....priceless

Red 500lbs sled 90% sled 10% rider
you weigh 50lbs???
you weigh 50lbs???

nah thats not it 90% of it is rider ability, and 10% sled, you can have the best sled that money can buy but if dont have the ablilties to handle it,what good is it.for example my brother who has excellent abilities i mean i have seen him do things with a sled that most people cant do,and it doesnt matter what he is riding weather its a 89 polaris 500 or his srx,it is rider input. put blair morgan on any make race sled and he will be out front. thats all im saying and good nite
50ish miles today, not a lot but felt good to be out on the trail.
