Hey guys, i was wondering what you guys thought about these two sleds in a race just from hearing about the engine specs and that the Apex took the RX1 by 5-6 sled lengths in the 1/4 mile (from what the Yamaha engineers say)
looks like my family will be adding an 06 to our Yamaha Snowmobile Collection

It is all speculation at this point, but my guess is the Mach will win. I assume this, because the mach is higher in HP, 2 strokes usually respond quicker, and the weights are probably nat what they say they are.
Again, all I guess at this point

The Mach..hands down...
I doubt very much that the weights are 100% true...and the RX was supposed to beat the SRX too....
Now a tuned Apex (clutched) to the stock Mach...I bet that would be a race.

I really don't like questions like this....only because we don't know anything yet about the new Yammies. Just specs and speculation. Let's see what difference the FI makes, especially in the throttle response. I would say the Mach has things in it's favor, but let's see.

Maybe the Mach will win.... assuming the Mach is running.

ya from what i hear the owners of the new mach z recieved a letter from ski doo advising not to ride it until it gets inspected due to some debreis flying off something and could injure the rider. also crank problems and ring problems. for this reason i will say APEX.

I know of someone who already broke a drive shaft on a new mach too. If you clutch the apex, then My vote goes for it over a stock mach.
If the mach is set-up right it should win.

Lets not turn this post into a skidoo bash that would be useless and off the topic. After all I watched a lot of srx cranks get welded, and it wasnt just the 98'models

not gonna happen...I just got back from watching a clutched and racepak'd MachZ run 124 on friggin' snow. Up until now they've all been dogs..but this guy has his S#$T together. We all ran later in the day..He was running 115 to my buddy's 110 (SRX) 105 (CPR clutched RX), 104 (stock Viper) and 98 (my SXR)..totally crap run..lots of lose snow..but still. Who knows...like someone said..it's all just speculation until we ride them.

You cant compare the 2 sleds because for one, no one other than Yamaha really knows how the Apex will perform and two, you have no idea what changes Doo made to the '06 Mach Z.
First-year sleds are often a leftdown. Look at the Polaris Fusion. The sled is nowhere near what it was hyped up to be. The sled is a slug, plain and simple. However, Id bet that in a year or 2 it will be a very potent sled. I can think of some other Polaris sleds that were pathetic in their first year but after that turned it some real strong runners: RXL, XLT, Ultra, 750 Storm. Its been said that buying any first-year build is a gamble.
My heart says the Apex would win, but my brain says Mach Z.

the said part is the RX-1/apex is designed to be a 700cc class sled, and its ONLY 15hp behind a same size 2-stroke, 165hp isn't impressive from a 1000cc 2stroke and makes me wonder why they didn't push for more power out of it (reliability problems)

all about how effeicient it is at getting it to the ground. have a friend that owns a dyno company, and says that yamaha isnt as impressive engine wise, but that they seem to be able to sdo more with less, just get more to the ground. and yes, he knows about speed, has a VERY fast car and drag sled he can drive on the trail
