Hi,

sled is vmax xtc 600 twin 1997.

I switched the original seat fro a viper seat. original seat had the rectangular light ( look like 1 bulb) the viper seat as the dual round light cover ( 2 bulb I think...)

The vmax seat had 3 pin connector and viper seat 4 pin connector but both had only 3 wires. I read on hear that it could only be spliced and wired together, which I did.

But now when I hit the brake the brake light will go low for 2 seconds and the get bright, but the front light almost go out ans stays very low as long as I am braking.....

any solution to fix that. I read a thread that was mentioning about replacing the seat light with LED bulb. Anybody knows if that fix is good in my situation?

thank you for your assistance

led bulbs in the tail lamp should fix that problem. they have less than 1/4 of the load of one of the stock bulbs. make sure you put red ones in as other colours do not shine through the red lens very well. learned that on my bike.

Hi Maim,

thank you for the reply! I was told that LED do not work on vmax because it is Direct Current.... is that wrong info I was told?

What color wires did you connect together?
And which wire did you leave un used?

Hey Murder!

I will take the seat off tomorrow and have an accurate answer, but I would say I matched the colors and dont remember having 4 wires on the viper seat evendough the it was a 4 pin connection.....

it will work fine. i could not use one on my et410 as the socket was too long to keep good contact for the 1157 red led bulb i had for it, and the 410 is ac for the lighting.

Much appreciated, that’s one of the last things I have left to finish on my sled.

ok, I removed the seat and here is the accurate info.

on my vmax, 3 wires coming from the brake light, connecting under the seat and then going under the gas tank.....

on the viper , 3 wires coming from the brake light, connecting under the seat but on the other side of the connection there is 4 wires going under the gas tank.

When I did it few week ago I never looked at the wires that goes under the gas tank on the viper. I only looked at the ones hooked to the brake light since I needed that part to make the connection and the wires were the same color. So I cut the 3 way connector that was on my old vmax seat, removed the connector from the viper seat and and installed the vmax connector on it.

So this pic show the viper connection going towards the engine ( 4 wires )

Now this is the connector from the viper but going toward the brake light (3 wires) which was connected to the one in the above picture.

This is the viper seat with the connector from my old vmax seat.

So I used all 3 wires, and connected all the same colors together. But now I am more confused as to why the viper would have 3 wires from brake light to connector and then 4 wires from the connection going towards the engine

I will try LED like Maim said, but still confused with the wire thing.....:o|

My buddy once mentioned that they made a heated brake lense at one time?
Anyone know if there is any truth to that ?
Could that be what the fourth wire is for?

I have no clue and when I look at the electrical diagram, I get totally lost.....

another guy told me it was my stator the problem...
