What are the major differences between a single after market pipe vs. a twin pipe after marketpipe. I have a 94 VMAX 600. Is the power gains in diff powerbands?

Twin pipes will give you a little more pull in the mid range, ...but I would recommend sticking with the single pipe as the jetting is less tempermental. If you want to pull a litte more 'G' out of this machine, ...get the track to hook up, ...there is lot's of recommendations on this site if you do a search.

that and clutching. single pipes make more tq on average as well. less backpressure loses tq and gains upper hp. depends on what you are looking for, lake running or trail running.
Twins are better for the lake and singles on the trails. That particular sled did not do so well with twins- blew up often

On that particular machine I recommend finding a GYT single or a stock 1996 Vmax 600 exhaust(same thing) .....also find a '95 or newer set of clutches and you will wake that sled up alot and be very reliable to boot....The twins on that sled are finicky. Been there and done it. My Dad had a '94 and '95.....the '94 was a dog and the '95 was a hot runner. He added the GYT single on the '95. That helped alot as did the better clutches('95 YXR primary had new button surface on towers to reduce binding and the secondary was the present and proven reverse cam style)

I had a 95 600 with the Yamaha GYT twin pipes. The thing was awsome. I followed the clutching and jetting instructions from Hauck. I put 6500 hard miles on it. It went from 95 horse to 110 horse. It beats the living crap out of the primary clutch unless you put a Hi-Tech 911 kit on. I may still have the set up instructions if you need them.
