I got a set of 45d handle bar hooks, and was installing them this morning. When I first got them out of the pacage I could notice they look like mini sled hooks. What did all of you guys do with the factory tappered grip. It looks like crap with those mini hooks sticking out the end of the bar with that big tapper there. I did notice that there is also a 1/2 inch hard plastic at the end of the steel bar under the grip. if I cut the grip all the way back there as to take that out, it won't harly be worth putting the hooks on. Has anyone tried sanding down the tapper on the stock grip. Any suggestions and pics would be appreciated. Maxdlx

Handlebar Hook Fix

I have a 90 deg hook on the left side and a 45 deg on the right (I think they're Sportech brand). Anyway, I noticed the same thing - the stock grips are too thick and look stupid with the smaller diameter hook on the end. I just took a Dremel tool with a small abrasive wheel on it and ground the sharp corner down so the stock grip transitions smoothly into the smaller diameter hook. You end up with basically a 45 degree chamfer on the end of your stock rubber grip. It works very well and looks good too. I don't have a digital camera but if you want pictures I can borrow one and post them. Should be pretty self explanatory though.
