Are there any unused holes on the tunnel?

Nope all are filled... wondering though if it still has all the same mount points as the 2002. I found pics of them both online... Taken with a grain of salt, what people label one thing could be something totally different. But it looks like the difference between the stock 2002 and the 2004 Viper S skid is the rear shock forward mounting point.

As I do not have ... nor have I ever had a Viper, I was wondering about the empty holes just forward of the x-fer rods in my first rotated picture. I was thinking mabey some kind of skid set back. That's why I asked about any empty holes. I don't know.

Clean as a whistle. A Viper owner will have to take it from here.

Upper pic is supposed to be the 2004 Viper S, lower the 2002 Viper can anyone confirm this?
Or are they the same and they are just articulated different? I don’t know? Were the Viper S rear skids different than the 2002 Viper?
They are the same suspension. In the top photo the rear pivot is IMPROPERLY facing FORWARDS and is wedged against those boggy wheels witch keeps the shock assembly "air born" like that.
The second photo with the pivot point toward the rear is its proper position and the only way it can be mounted in the tunnel.

Thanks Vincent I see what you are saying. So do you know if the 02 Viper skid is different than the 04 Viper S? Some of the assembly looks different right by the arrows.

Vincent has the correct answer. That skid looks stock.
Dump that no action...... pro action skid. They ride like a lumber truck in comparison to newer skids. Replace with a Yamaha mono from 2006 or newer and save 16 lbs. Easy install for anyone mechanically inclined.

Yeah I just picked it up this winter to play with. I plan on doing a few things this summer to her. SC III or Yamaha mono or M-10 what’s the best to go with? If they are within a couple hundred dollars of each other the $ wouldn’t be a consideration. I’ve read all are possible...? Öhlins up front worth it?

I have no experience with other brands. I run an 2006 Apex GT skid with the Ohlin shock. You can find the install instructions in the tech pages. I run The Ohlin shocks for Viper up front with a 44 inch wide kit. Tracks fairly well. Handles OK. Still does not compare to wishbone style newer machine. I'm thinking its about as good as I can get from an 18 year old sled.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.
My viper 2004S came with the skid on the right, the one with both shocks mounted low between the rails.

Looks fine by pics. What do you think is wrong?

Didn’t think anything was wrong just saw a couple different looking skids when I searched for 02 Viper skid just trying to learn more about it... the 2 pics of the skids out of the sled that I attached looked different and had me thinking they might be different but Vincent pointed out they are just articulated differently...
