In addition to some SX 700's and a SRX700, we run a 95 Venture XL and a 95 Phazer. The 485cc sleds employ a ratcheting mechanism to adjust brake cable free play. Regardless, the Phazer brakes are terrible, I pulled the caliper off, removed the pucks, and used a wire brush to "deglaze" them. I am in the process of trying to "deglaze" the rotor as well, by jacking up the rear end and engaging the drive, using emery cloth.
Not sure whether this will make any improvement at this case, just wondering what others may have done, if they've experienced similar situations.

If I were to do it w/o turning them down(if that's even possible), I'd have someone man the throttle. With the rotor turning @ around 4000ish RPMs, touch it w/ flap disc on a 4.5" grinder.
