Question is, do the Reed cages warp or wear? I noticed the reeds not seating so I put new OEM reeds in and have the same issue. It's a 1997 vmax 600 sx.
No, but if you look closley down the reed, most i have installed have a slight curve to them.
I always look at them, then place them so the crown is out, so it seals at the tip.
Don’t know if it’s a real thing or not, but have done several lately, and noticed it on all of them.

Yes, Reed pedals have a slight curvature and it should be facing down at the tip

Use a black piece of paper for stock or white reeds. A white piece of paper for Carbontech or black reeds.
