Well, I heard about this issue AFTER I bought the runners and put them on. I just checked today, after about 800 miles of riding and the 2 front studs on my ski runners are busted off. Anybody know if Woody's is doing anything regarding warrantying with this issue? Just sucks to spend $75 per runner and have this happen . And yes, I was using the appropriate size metal spacers on each and every stud. -Steve O.C.

Carbides
NYSRXR,
Seems Yamaha got us this one. When you replaced the wear bars on your sled did you notice that the studs on your stock bars have spacers from the bar itself half way up then there is threads ? Oh yes the seat for the bar is up in the ski about 1/2". I have spacers on my carbides and the bar actually sticks out the bottom like it was designed to. By puting aftermarket bars on you tighten the stud too far trying to get it to tighten and stressing the threaded portion. Now hit a few rocks or gravel and the threaded bar snaps because it is under so much stress already. Check out a stock bar and you will see what I am talking about. Just weld the broken bar back on. It will be fine. Pat

Thanks for the reply Pat. Do you think if I had the Woody's studs "beefed up" so I did not need a seperate spacer would do the trick? Meaning making the portion of the stud that sits inside the ski thicker/heavier. Do you think I would have to do this to all of them or just the front stud as it seems to be under the most pressure, being it broke already? Thanks -Steve O.C.
i broke studs off before on woodys runners so i just took a bolt and cut the head off and welded it on.

I made spacers out of Stainless, then when I change them out I can re-use them. Beefing them up would work OK as long as the height was right.

they were probably tightened too much which stressed them, and then rocks/bridges/turning probably broke them off. You can weld some new studs on (use some bolts, cut the heads off)

heck, last year i ran amost 500 miles with the front studs broken off each one. probably not the smartest of things, but no problems
