So I have a 2004 sx viperER and I just fired it up for the first time this year and it starts right up and the gauge cluster lights up and the tach goes to highest rpm then back to zero, but then once everything zeros out the odometer just flashes zeros and the tach does not respond to throttle reponse and also when I drive it it shows no mph? Any ideas on what's going on? I did pull the battery out for the off season but I can't imagine that would have affected anything.

The ER model does need the battery in for the gauges to work right. It is the smoothing condenser for the ER model.

Could it be that the battery is low ?

Check the battery condition. A dead cell in battery will be pulling lots of watts from stator.
