On my -01 Srx700 the track rotates on idle when i lift the sled up. And when I have been driving and the rpm:s goes down to idle it makes an annoying whining noise from the drive belt, even as I tried to lower the idle rpms as I could before the engine stalls. The belt is brand new so is it just some running in that is needed? As the sled only has 3800km on it I dont think there could be any parts in the clutch that are worn, or am I wrong?
Sounds like the belt is short but if the engine was aligned correct it should not be an issue.....unless its not OEM...had this happen with DAYCO MAX belts

I had this happen on some of my 700's even when putting on a new Yamaha Belt.
Chances are if it is not too bad it will go away when the belt gets worn in.
If you want to deal with it now, remove a washer or two from the three small bolts on the inside of the secondary which sets the spacing between the secondary sheaves. This will spread the sheaves farther apart at rest ,and allow the belt to go down in the secondary a little and should stop the problem you are having.
Save the washers. If the above cures the problem, you will want to put them back in place after your belt gets worn some to raise the belt height.
Hope this helps.

I think the spec for SRX's is even or slightly above the sheave edges. If it's any higher, it'll squeal and behave how yours is.
Usually this happens when you'd take a sled in for service. A dealer will set the deflection rather than replacing the belt since it's got life left, and when you then add a new belt, it's too tight. Check it out and post back!

Had same thing...thought I was doing a good thing and put a new belt on and set the secondary height and it was squeeling like a pig at idle and low rpm's....reset the height and it was gone. Also I read somewhere that the ch belts and the dn belts used a different ride height. so reset your height and go have fun
I was out driving a little today and the damn belt wouldnt shut up.
I checked the manual and it said that the belt should be no more than 1.5mm (0.06 in) above the edge on secondary, and no more than 0.5mm (0.02 in) below the edge. And on my sled the belt position was a little to much over the edges.. So ill try to take a spacer away on the adjusting bolts. Didnt even know there were bolts like that before you gys started talking about them.
Thanks
