I've got a few heads with banged up combustion chambers and wondered what can be done with them. Had pistons go out in the cylinders and the pieces marked up the chambers.I've seen where guys have had the chambers recut for higher compression engine projects but is there a way to save these heads for use as stock ones? I'm using ported cylinders on my engine with stock 8DN-00 heads ('98 SRX) and wondered if the benefit of shaving .030 off them and having the chambers recut would be worth it? This is a trail sled too btw. Plus I'm not sure if there's any place in my neck of the woods that have the expertise to cut combustion chambers.I should add that these are not the heads I'm running now but old ones sitting in a box.

In the past I have had them machined and then run a stock head gasket or double later to bring it back to stock compression. It really depends on how deep the damage is and the cost of machining.
