i know i have read that your tach is not right on by anywhere from 2-3 hundred rpms , my question , is that there reading high ex: my tach reads 5000 rpms but its probably only 4700-4800 rpms or it reads low ex: my tach reads 5000 rpms but it probably 5200-5300 rpms .....any input ??
Tach accuracy
Billy, I can't really answer your question but I can tell you that my factory tach is RIGHT ON THE MONEY with my Avenger III and I certainly hope the Avenger is accurate considering what it cost.

They can be either way, you really have to have them calibrated to be sure, or hook up a digital Tiny Tach to compare.
That said they tend to run high more than low.

As long as the signal is accurate, as it should be, then the digitron should be right on. The problem is usually with the calibration of the actual tach gauge that comes on the sled.

Are the stock ones fixed or can they be recalibrated? Thanks, Soc

Westach can recalibrate them. Supposedly Yamis are the most accurate in the business.

Thats not very hard to believe. Yamaha parts always seem to be more precise than the others.
