Rebuilt engine and now won’t start unless I put gas in cylinder. Choke set. Compression is 120. It’s low but aftermarket head gaskets are to thick compared to the stock one. Will have to cut head to bring compression up. Any ideas would be great.

its a carb issue ... have you went thru them?
I did. They were clean, as far as pilot and mains.
hows the fuel pump? Is the carbs getting fuel when the motor pulse?? UN hook the fuel lines and see if its pushing fuel to carbs.I did. They were clean, as far as pilot and mains.
It continues to run once I get it started.

So you start it with gas and then it will run for how long? 5 to 10 min or until you turn it off?
until i shut it off
Then your choke is not working. Replace pilots and clean the shit out of that choke circuit on that carb and plunger.
