So, I think I know what I want to do. The local circuit is CMSA around here, and they offer grass and ice racing. I got my srx... soon to have a bigbore. I guess i'd be running in 800 IMP stock. I know racing is very expensive....and in no way am i rich, nor are my parents. Basically what I'm asking is, how do I go about gettin sponsors?? I'm serious that I want to do this over the summer (grass) but I doubt it'll be feasbile without sponsor support.
Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks

I'm old enough.. they have a waiver my parents have to sign.
Age aside -
Getting sponsors can be done one of two ways. Talk to a salesperson in your area who calls on a manufacturing companies. Ask them who is 1. doing well 2. good sized, but not huge, and 3. has any ties to automotive etc. This is not full proof, but works well. You dont have any positive history and that hurts, and you will need to put together a nice presentation (pics at the track etc.) You will find just about any company will give you 500 dollars, but if you want a couple thousand you will really need to work for it. Your sled will turn into a walking billboard. If you have a nice enclosed trailer You can mention that you will also advertise on the side of that. Lastly, tell the company that you will take a large photo that they could frame. They can than show it off at there plant etc. (go after the ego)
You WILL need more than one sponsor so dont promise the world to one.
I could go on and on, but hopefully this will help. If any of this seemed conusing or to hard than simply leave your sled alone and race it stock in a lower class. ---It is easier to cheat in those classes anyhow...but I would never suggest that.

Make sure that when you are talking to these people you present yourself like a professional, you are essentially selling yourself to them, so make a good impression that will last.

Racing is is central minnesota... I know enough I think to start racing.. I know how to do most stuff under the hood.. haven't really tooled around elsewhere, JR has kinda been teaching me how to do it. No, no times yet, the grass drags are 660 and the ice ones are 1000. Clutching has a goodwin kit, planning on changing, pulls ok for 1000 though.

I am sponsored by many, and it took alot of hard work, excellent race proposals, and a very good winning streak, plus, and this is the big one............replys to your sponsors with pictures, news articles, recent wins, and an excellent race attitude, either winning or losing. It is just like a 2nd job, and if you can't back up what you are promising them, then you won't have any luck.
It's not just bringing home the trophy or the money, it's the attitude and showing your sponsors that they helped big time to get you there.
