1983 et300 oil pump questions

There’s been an oil leak coming from the pump area which has drained most of the tank over the summer. It looks to be coming out where the cable goes into the pump. Took the cover off to remove the cable and it is full of oil. Wondering if it’s supposed to be?

the 78 340 i have floating around was leaking out of the tac drive until i installed a nos tac kit i found. was only leaking when running though.

This engine has a plate covering the tach drive so i know it isn’t coming from there.

Just dealt with this on mine. There is a seal on the main shaft that was leaking on mine. You need to remove the clutch and take the gear drive set completely out. Most gasket sets have the seal required.
