I wanted to replace the exhaust / downpipe on
my sled because it had been damaged and welded and it is rusty and I had a chance to get a nice used one for a good price, from a 1996 VMAX DX 600 (so I was told), so I bought it but when I got home and compared it to my other one it was noticeably bigger, even with a bigger hole diameter, and it obviously didn’t fit. I am wondering what I really bought, because according to parts diagrams, the exhaust from a 1996 VMAX DX is supposed to be the same part number as my ‘95 VMAX… anyone recognize this exhaust? My original is the top one in the photos, the bottom one is the one I bought that was supposed to be the same…

Looks like the standard 96 exhaust to me. You have to change the manifold also.

Manifold also you say? Hmmm… Still not sure it would fit in my ‘95, wasn’t able to put the exhaust tip down into the hole, was hitting on the disc brake…
So if it’s really from the ‘96 I guess they aren’t compatible after all.
