DMC top gear

I installed the dmc top gear on my 17 sidewinder. Now after a very short ride it will be stuck in forward. Cannot shift into reverse. Sliding reverse gear is stuck to dmc gear. Tried it 2 times. Same results. I removed the center snap ring as instructed. Not sure where I am going wrong. Anyone had this happen before?

How tight is its drive chain?

When my sleds chain is too tight, its hard to manually force into its "R" gear. When its chain is slightly loosened off (re: 1 full turn on its bolt), its forward to reverse gear mechanical movement works great.
