It all started ( i think ) when i put 80/100 all weather bulbs in my 2001 srx700 last year. At first i didn't notice any probelems except real good lighting at night and in snowy riding(no problem). But then i noticed the sled was very very very hard to start on low beam but started fine on high beam. Thats was not too bad eather. The following weekend the coolent light started flashing quickly like the book says if your overheating. So i stopped and pack the heat exchangers with snow and checked the coolent level (full),but the motor really wasn't that hot. Then waited for 1/2 hour or so. then was to back riding again & it was fine for about two mile then a differnt code came on. ( 1 long flash, 3 quick flashes ) Going by info i found on this site, thats a code 2. shorting coolent sensor.(??) Then sled was missfiring at mid throttle and the light would go off if i gave it all the gas for a sec. or two or rode slow. Now the code is on all the time but runs fine and doesn't overheat and is still hard to start on low beam
WHAT CAME FIRST THE CHICKIN OR THE EGG ??? If You have any info LMK SORRY FOR THE LONG READ

what year is it if 98 -99 check the wiring harness that runs under the engine the wires wear through. this happen to my brothers 98 srx wasnt quite like you explained but very similiar. so it wouldnt hurt to check the harness that runs under the engine. as far as the headlight are you running a heated shield or other acessory if so with running the higher watt headlight will overload the system and fry. hope this helps you out. ps my brothers light blinked 7 times 3 are the system test and the next 4 are the code. but his didnt over heat, but his tach wouldnt work and his dash light went out as well.but the manual also says to check the servo motor and the power valves so you might want to check them out to see if they arent sticking. he check the servo and the valves with a ohm meter and it all checked out then went to the harness. but there is another post on this board that also discribes something very similar to your situation as well so good luck. let me know how you make out with it
