Hey everyone,
I’m in the process of changing out the track on my brothers 02 SXViper and hit a brick wall.
Unfortunately the pictures I took during tear down weren’t sufficient enough and we are having trouble getting the chain case back in order.
My questions are:
Which collar goes to the Jack shaft and the drive shaft? The OEM parts diagram looks to put the skinnier collar going on the drive shaft and the thicker collar going onto the jack shaft. We put it together that way, with the protruding side of the drive shaft sprocket facing towards the chain case cover, but the sprocket over shoots the shaft quite a bit as shown in the picture. Is that correct?
Also, while cleaning up the chain case, we came across this piece. Any ideas as to what it is? It is magnetic.
Any help is extremely appreciated and thank you in advance.

The magnetic piece is off the bottom of the dip stick.
Test fit the gears and spacers in the case without the chain and it will become obvious where each spacer goes. I actually run a straight edge along the outer faces of the gears and shim them so they are exactly lined up so the chain can run true.

That’s exactly what I was looking for, thank you!Little gear top, big gear bottom. Disregard the nastiness of this case. This was the disassembly of it new to me.
