I am replacing the drive bearings on a 2001 SXR 700 and the bearings I got only have a cover on one side. Do I need to get a cover for the other side or keep the open side in the chaincase?

It only comes with one seal. Now heres where the controversy comes in LOL!! Every Proaction ive opened up over the years the seal was inside the chain case, and this is how i run them. The seal helps keep any metal shavings out of bearing and chain case oil is still able to seap into bearing. The outer drive shaft seal keeps the open bearing sealed and protected. A good outer seal will not leak or alow water in. The other train of thought is the bearing should be open to chain case lubed and seal on outer side protects from water ect. So bottom line is you have the right bearing, I run the seal in chain case and some run it on outside. Do some searching, research here and draw your own conclusion on that.
