Hello Yamaha fans. Vintage and custom builder here. Grew up in Labrador and my favourite sled of all times was my brothers 81 SS440. They are near impossible to find where I live now so I took my second favourite sled instead. A 81 ET250. It was free to me but had been sitting outside, covered for 15 years. Lots of major rust, but it ran after fuel drain etc and fired in the 3rd pull.
Lots of plans for this machine, the current phase is what I’m going to call stage 2.
Stage 1 was the total rebuild.

Stage 2 is the install of a SS440 engine mated to a Vmax 500 jackshaft/chain case and front TSS set-up.
This will be a slow burner as I acquire parts. But I’m just 1 day I tore down the donated Vmax to size up the project and it looks easily doable.
A little history about me. I’ve been a builder/modifier for 45 years. Started with RC stuff in teens, then motorcycles and then cars. I have been an aircraft mechanic, mechanical and structural, for 35 years. Plenty of fabricating experience and plenty of tools. I also do composite work utilizing fibreglass/carbon fibre and Kevlar.
