I am trying to troubleshoot a no spark situation. trying to follow manual I have but the pinout at the CDI does not match the drawings in the manual.
I thought it was pickup coil, it had infinite resistance. Replaced but not the issue. I have a few 2002 vipers so I tried swapping voltage regulator, condensers and coils seem to have the proper resistance. I did not try CDI as I didn't think it would be compatible as the 2004 has the knock sensor and such. It seems I am getting voltage where I need it. The wires coming to the CDI from the pickup coil are shown as white w/red and white w/grn stripes. I see them on my diagram but they are not in the right pins at the connector based on the drawing. When I ohm the pickup coil from the wires in the connector at the CDI I get and infinite resistance.

The other issue is a cannot seem to find the drawing that matches the model number shown in the Subject line.
Thoughts?

Figure it out? Mine is same. I swapped new relays too. I swapped cdi.
I'm trying find info on bypassing kill switch...it has 4 wires. Anyone?

In 2004 the SX Viper changed controls (and CDI) where the kill switch changed from "open to run" to "closed to run".

Also, be sure to search for Viper wiring harness chaffing threads - common problem under engine which caused all different sort of electrical gremlins.

If 2004-2005 the Brown and Brown/White wires need to be connected
If 2002-2003 the Black/White needs to be disconnected

fwiw there are only 2 wires going to the kill switch on any year model

Electric start.....4 wires (single 4 pin connector) to kill on 04
So 2 go to throttle and 2 to kill. Good to know. Ty

You said infinate resistance on pick-up harness. That sounds like your issue.

So I have resolved my intermittent no spark and or no spark at below 1500 rpm. I noted many of these threads are left open ended with NO final resolve posted by the OP. That sucks so I plan to leave info on a few different threads to help the next guy. Thanks to those who chimed in with ideas, charts, and needed info.
My pickup coil went bad.....1700 miles. I purchased an aftermarket complete stator from ebay for $85. They appear to be same for 2000 up triples.
On these Chinese stators You must modify the pickup coil bracket.
Grind off the indexing rings punched into the bracket. Cut the holes so they are a slot with openings to rear. Set gap to mag at a tight .038".
You can buy a stand alone pickup coil ( about any yamaha model application) for $40ish and splice it into harness to save more money. I would have done that hindsight.
Runs perfect again.
