Looking to purchase either the Apex GT, Vector GT or the nytro. But i am having a hard time deciding. Should i dump the extra for the EFI over the carbed sled? Does it really matter that much in a 4 stroke?

The HP diff doesn't really bother me that much. I ride in WI on the trails mostly and am not going to lake race the thing.. just looking for a good fast sled that will handle WI conditions whether good or bad.

HELP ME DECIDE.. give me a reason!!

I would guess they will all be efi next year and that will effect non efI value - apex
The efi will run crisp and better fuel economy all the time - apex
semi forward rider - apex
150 hp- apex
monoshock rear - apex
the nytro will probably go "forward rider" next year and agin hurt nytro value - apex

The nytro will be less expensive - nytro
easier to mod (carbs)- doesnt seem like a concern - nytro
The first year EFI shouldnt be an issue with Y, but if it is it could be a pain! - nytro
apex is heavier than the already heavy nytro- nytro

I personally would go apex, because the others do nothing at all for me. The changes for this year(on 3 cyl) are minimal and the 3 cylinder is a slug imo. 120 hp but acts like a diesel.

You asked for my opinion - thats it - but dont let me spend your 10k.

If you want a vector - I would hunt down an 05

EFI will have some advantages, namely better fuel economy, better running quality, easier starting, no choking and quicker throttle response.
The 973 triple is not a slug. It does feel slower than the RX, but thats because the RX has more HP. Off the line and up to 80 mph the RX was no faster than the Vector was. Now, I think the Apex will be faster than the Nytro, but thats because of EFI. The 973 triple is NOT a slug. In fact, it felt faster than any 600 2-stroke I have ever ridden and it actually makes more low-end torque than the 999 4-cylinder does. The torque of the triple down low is unbelieveable!

the yamaha techs said that any fuel economy advantage gained by the EFI will be offset by the power increase (takes fuel to provide power), so they weren't projecting any economy gains. As for ease of starting, was there any problem before? I've never seen an easier starting sled than the RX's. Will be nice to not have to keep messing with the choke to keep it running smooth when cold though.

Well, some people have had problems with fouling out plugs on their RXs. Once they master how to use the choke, they dont foul out plugs.
EFI would eliminate the hassle of using the choke. Im personally not a fan of the choke under the left handlebar. When I rode that '05 RX-1 I cranked it and cranked and cranked it and the sled just wouldnt start. Then I was like, "where is the choke?!?!" Thats when I realized, "Oh yeah, its under the left handlebar!" I put it on half choke and it kinda sputtered a little, so I gave it a quick blip of the throttle and it cleared right out and idle like a champ! EFI would make it a little bit easier to start. Overall though, the problem was more me not knowing the sled's tendencies and not being familiar with its operation.
