Has anyone ever put Electric start from an XLV into an SRV?

I have an 83 SRV, and I have the wiring harness and a stator with the gear ring from an 85 XLV. Is this a possibility, and has anyone here done it?

Yes it will work.

Is it relatively simple, ie is it what I think…remove the wiring harness, remove the stator, replace the stator, install the starter (in whichever order it works best, replace the wiring harness, install the battery, Bob’s your uncle?

Yes you will need the ignition switch. The battery box and the solenoid and rectifier that bolt onto the battery box.
