I have a 89 Exciter and want to know it a 84-89 Phazer drive shaft will go right in. I know the drivers are smaller and the skid will have to be moved back but will it fit? Anyone here heard of or done it?
Did you check just the part number of the shaft itself against each other on the Yamaha Fiche?
The shaft is a different number but I was hoping the drive wheel sprockets would fit the Exciter hex shaft.
Update on this: I bought a complete shaft with the two drive wheels off a 1985 Phazer and it fit my 89 Exciter with no modifications. The speedo side wasn't machined for the spacer like the Exciter, but the spacing for the bearing was the same.
