Bah.. took carbs off, valves off last weekend, cleaned it all up, replaced all the lines to and from fuel pump....well not it runs shittier than before i took it apart.

It'll idle really weird, kinda like uhh.. then spike up about 1000 rpm, die down, spike up.... then i start to drive it.. it feels like a twin! no snap to it, AT ALL! worse than a twin even.. will still do 70ish, takes about 4x the time of a normal srx to get goin that fast... occasionally will backfire.. also smokes a LOT LOT LOT when riding... any ideas:S :o|

dont give up just yet, i was in the same boat with my 01 srx 700!! found that the oil cable was pulled out of the sheeve. i put a 1 inch riser on my bars, and never even thought about looking what i was doin. when i pulled my bars up to install the riser i must have done it then, i was goin nutts trying to figure mine out. but thanx to you guys on here, i found it and now it runs perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds to me like you've got a dead cylinder, it's doing exactly what you said it feels like, running on 2 cylinders.

fouled plug forgot to hook up a fuel line start it up and feel all three pipes if they all the same temp just by feel its not the cylinders if two are hot to the touch and one is cold its that cylinder double check make sure u hooked everything up rite

took it apart last night, found kinked fuel line, replaced, put back together.. now it wont start. im s sick of this shit, ahH!!!!!!!!1

ok.. new plugs on all 3, pour a little gas into right side cyl, pull cord.... fires for about a second, then dies. everytime!!!!1

you obviosly mess up on the reassembly, try it again.
may want to check the pistons for overall problems

Your not getting fuel - where do you live - ?? Im in s. w. michigan - maby you can drop it by or i'll stop if your near - seems like its a basic problem - just need to know what to look for. air - fuel - spark - and compression is all a 2 stroke needs.

Just me thinking, have you checked your fuel pump? Maybe it is not working properly and is not suppling enough gas to the carbs. On an old pul-my-arse(polaris) that i had the pull cord rubbed thru the vac line for the fuel pump.
