02 700 vmax. Start every month ran perfect. Now won't start, and backfires so bad it separates the pipe from the silencer with a big bang. Is it dirty carbs or what? Checked spark, no spark while cranking then all plugs spark as soon as I turn key off. Is this a stator issue?

You may have just fouled the plugs from starting it every month. Try a brand new set.
Plugs all fire as soon as I turn key back.Obviously that's why I get the backfire in the exhaust pipeYou may have just fouled the plugs from starting it every month. Try a brand new set.

pull it over with the plugs out by hand for spark. had ign on a doo 1/2 unplugged that would only spark correctly when pulled over.
pull the recoil and check for rust on the flywheel as that messes up spark as well.

Clean the carbs and make sure it has fresh gas.

Doesn't necessarily matter. When you start it every month for short run, that's a recipe for plug fouling. Did you try a brand new set?No .the plugs spark
