I have a yamaha 700 from 1998, and ive been trying to lose some weight off of my sled and im suprised the lack of information and techniques people have used. Someone tell me some really good ways to lighten this beast for better handling and brakes, accel.. etc
Im really eyeballing some of the things like the skid and arms specifically..
The more obvious weight i would assume is the seat.. hood & dash cluster... some other things like the skid and front suspension im questioning the amount of weight i could shed there, as well as the triple pipe weight.

I had a 2002 SRX 700 that I lightened up as much as possible but unfortunately my notes went with the sled when I sold it.
I did get the sled down to around sub 500lbs
I don't remember the numbers exactly and most of the parts are unavailable anymore but I will list from memory what I did.
-mountain performance trailing arms: -7lbs
-boss seat: -5lbs
-light weight rotor: -1lbs
-fox front end air shocks: -5lbs
-titanium drive shaft: -2lbs
-titanium jack shaft: -1lbs
-titanium suspension shafts -2 lbs
-fox air rear suspension shock : -3lbs
-converting to 2 extrovert drivers only: -3lbs
-Aaen pipes: -7lbs
-Light Weight Track: -5lbs
-------------------------------------------------------------
Total weight loss 41lbs
It is not easy and very expensive to lighten these sleds up

Did you just use 10" drive wheels on the outside is that what you are saying? Or did you use them on the inside.I had a 2002 SRX 700 that I lightened up as much as possible but unfortunately my notes went with the sled when I sold it.

Explain the conversion
No...I removed all the 4 drive wheels on the drive shaft and installed only two Wahl extrovert drivers.

Replace that "no action" pro action skid. That skid was crazy heavy. I installed the Apex 2006 gt. Probly saved 15 lbs or more.
