ok i have read alot of posts to educate myself on the troubles i am experiencing...myself with a '02 srx and a buddy with a '99 sx both have the same set up and both have the same problem...we have excessive slider wear, especially on the right side (i can only figure that exhaust heat has something to do with it) we both have our limiter straps shortened, fairly loose tracks, not sure if the centre shock is set to "0",and run graphite, both sleds were set up by a local yami expert last fall, and never had slider wear this bad till now...in a recent 1800km trip we both went through 3 sets of slides each (worn right through twice), temps were just below freezing, so it was fairly warm... but there was lots of lube (loose snow) all the dealers blamed it on conditions....i didnt see a lineup of yamis at thier door replacing slides, except us 2...thinking we will go to the polaris wheels... but i wonder how much that will help...any help on why, this is happening or other corrective measures would be appreciated
almost forgot....can the limiter straps be tightened too much and cause premature slider wear???

Try shortening your limiter strapes and taking most of the preload off the front shock. One other thing that I found helped my 98 SRX was to drill holes along the bottom of your slide about 1/8" deep. I think there is something on hyfax saving techniques in the Tech section of the TY site.

shortened the straps quite a bit, just dont know if you can shorten them too much, not sure if the preload of the centre shock was adjusted, i will have to check that...just cant figure out why the right side wears twice as fast as the left (which is consistant with both sleds) if i wear through the new ones i have on it quickly i will try drilling the holes in the slides, just to see if that helps.....this is the first time i have had this much trouble...i religiously replace the slides every year and they have always lasted the season, and i log somewhere between 3000- 4000km's a year, i just have to attribute the trouble with the shortening of the straps (which i know doesnt make sense) since it was the only thing touched on the suspension this year, i guess the transfer rods have nothing to do with slider wear....(the only other adjustment ihave made) to compensate for the increased ski pressure after the straps were shortened

when the slides are brand new, you need to get them very hot, where you can feel the sticky and can smell them, and then cool them off FAST, by pulling into some loose powder or water. This will make them last A LOT longer. I have the original factory set on my '01 SX 700R with 5,500 miles on them

On drillin holes, I was told about that, but I didn't hear anything about only drilling them 1/8 of an inch into the slider. I used a 1/8th inch drill and drilled tons of holes all the way through and down the slider. Haven't put them on yet, but I guess I'll see when I install them.
