Well i found out the hard way that the Exciter and Exciter 2 have different secondary clutches ....i knew the Exciter 2 had a wider belt so i asked on TY what i should do because i had bought a comet 108exp clutch for my 1987 Exciter that was made for the Exciter 2 >>>>should i remove the spider on the primary and remove shims so the narrow belt fits ??hmmmm that sounds like a chore..... or take the secondary apart and add shims so the wider belt fits ??? hmmm a little easier..... so i did the secondary clutch and it worked, but wasnt getting my top end i thought i would have, and now the secondary bushings were going, i had brass filings coming out....So i bought a secondary off Ebay from a 1993 sx ,It not only was for the wider belt it also is a larger diameterby about 3/4 inch you could tell by looking at it it was bigger soooo ....everyone dont do what i did.....im so much happier with the way its going now...
wow i have top end the smaller clutch i had, the engine was as far as it would go forward and the larger diameter secondary seems to have better low end too
Just wanted everyone to know......and not do what i did.
Now im wondering is the gearing different between the Exciter and Exciter 2
does anyone know????
