well i tried a ultimax 3 belt over the weekend and i think it works awsome, way better then the 8dn.i liked it so much i just bought another.

I have a 99 srx 600 as well and I am looking for a new belt do you have the part number for the belt you bought and did you have to do anything for belt alignment? About how much did it cost?

I put a ultimax 3 belt on my srx7 and it ate it! DOH!!
I broke it in according to the box and it only lasted 150k. The sides started shredding and long strands were pulling out. Good thing I caught it before it totally blew.
My 8dn had 2500 k on it and was starting to show some wear, thought I'd try something with a little softer compound. Should of bought a new 8dn.
just my 2 cents,
mul

part # 138-4432
no i did not have to adjust anything fit better then the 8dn.i was reel easy on it for the first 50 miles. then i hammered on it still looks brand new after 250 miles
i bought it from spankysparts.com

You'll learn - maby the hard way - after you waist a belt cover - hose cover - belly pan side pod - footrest thing - and maby a foot. DON'T DO THE DAYCO THING!!! - You will pay - OEM is the only way!!
actually - they do work on phazers or maby a 500.
They give you a free belt if you break one though.

I've had bad luck with the 2's, but I would assume the 3's could be better. any of you with dayco horror stories try the ultimax3 ?

i put on an ultimax 3 at the beggining of the season. at least 600 miles on it. switched from a 8dn because i was having overheating problem due to slippage in deeper snow. so far so good. i bought 2 just in case 1 blows. $8 for shipping and they send you a brand new one. so far so good. i will say that i still keep the 8dn in the back of the sled just in case ;)! I used to run the 8ch belt until one exploded at about 95 mph took out speedo housing and cable
