What is a clutch good setup to run on a 97 600 Twin?

Am I better off buying a clutch kit through maxx perf or some other manufacturer?

TIA

I wouldn't, ...you can get pretty close with home made clutching (springs/helix) for a lot less $. Check out the member clutch charts in TY tech info.

I'm using a moderately aggressive setup on my 96'VMAX twin, ...I wanted a low dollar solution to provide a balance between getting this thing to hook up and reliablity, ...

-8AB weights (2.4G in heel @5K ft.)
-GPG spring 1 shim
-45/41 helix w/ green spring
-8T drivers w/ 37/23 gears (1.84 ratio)
-raised skid, relocated xfr rods for more transfer removed top washer
-1.5" camo challenger track
-stiffened centre shock, loosened rear (adjusted based on rider weight)
-stiffened front shocks (pogo) w/ 8" carbides
-jetting pilot screw 1.5 out, needle 1.5 notches, 146.3 mains (@5Kft.), ...ever so slightly lean on really cold days (light brown plugs).

Now I've never tried any of the vendor package kits, ...but this thing is pretty unbelievable next to other 600's of it's vintage.

The one that I saw on the info page used a 45/41 helix, how much different is that gonna be from the 51/43 you mentioned and the weights were 8ab-00 (i assume that they are the same as an 8-ab weight)

thanks

personally i think the 51/43 is a bit too steep for the 600 twin, would probably be better with the shallower angles

This is a quote and setup I got on this site a few years back, VMAXJOHN I believe. But I run it on my girlfrinds 97 600 and love it. It spins right around 7800 consistantly. Reeds spacers are the only other thing I have done to it. And never did the suggested gearing as I like it as is. A 1" Poo track with 96 pics makes it really move for an old 600.

QUOTE:
"A 50/44 Dalton is a good starting point, as the rest of the set up works excellent with it. 8CA weights with 2.4 grams in both holes for a stock motor. Gearing is optional, but helps coming out of the corners for sure.

Spin it at 7800rpm, no more, and this set up will make you wish you had more traction!"
