How much oil

How much oil should my 97 700sx use? I went on a 350 mile trip and used 2.5 litres of oil.I had to top up and the XC 700 I went with never had to add oil.I always use about 2 bucks less fuel than him.Is my oil consumption normal and if not how do I check the settings?

that isn't bad oil consumption at all. If you wanted you could lean it down a little by increasing the oil pump cable gap, but if it were me i would leave it. Cheaper to put in oil than crank bearings.

Make sure you're comparign apples to apples here. I have your same sled and the oil reservoir is mcuh smaller than the reservoir on my friends Ski-doo and Polaris sleds so there may be more to it than just the rate of oil consumption.

1 quart per 100 miles is considered the "normal" for farily agressive riding.
