Ok guys I just installed a set of these on my '01 MM700 tonight. They're the ones from Royal Distributing (black - no name ones? - I got them through my dealer) part # 004-1004. The Royal Dist. part # is 04-100-13, which leads me to believe I have the right ones, just maybe a modified PN (combined the 1+3 to get the last digit of 4?)
Problem is, they cannot adjust as the adjustable collar is tight up against the lower section that it slides through. I mean bar tight, as in no transfer possible. Sized it all up, everything seems to be done right, but all I can figure is that they're too long? Did they order me the wrong ones, or did I overlook something during my installation?
Sorta pissed now after mucking around with that all night for the weekend, but hey I guess it's a labour of love.
Got some pics below.
Thanks

maybe you will have to move the bottom mounts to the rear holes (inside the rear idler wheels) if they are in the front position right now. If they are in the front position, you would need the shorter newer srx style rods. I think you can make those work though. Take a picture of the bottom mount location (where they attach to the rails)

They seem to be in the rearmost pair of mounting holes. Couldn't see or feel anymore inside the wheels. Did a quick check against the stock ones (too late now that they're on...lol) and they seem to be about 1.5"-2" too long. here's a pic:

You should have ordered the 04-100-12 for MM, ...the 13 is for the SRX, ...I would exchange them, RD is pretty good at exchanging items.

...try not to damage them though.

yeah I hear ya but I got them through my dealer and the actual part # is 004-1004...strange eh? That's why I figured they were actually 004-100-13. Sucks to be me on that one. My bud owns the dealership so it shouldn't be a problem doing a straight exchange on them.
Thanks for the help b'ys.

yea you need the new mountain max/srx style. THe ones you have are the regular ones, and those are supposed to mount behind the rear idlers, wheras your mounts are ahead of the idlers. Lucky your buddy can exchange them easily

Alright thanks for all the help fellas. I'll get it straightened out first thing in the morning and hopefully have the new ones flown in for Monday. I'll post an update early next week.

Been through 3 sets of these MM rods. Everytime they come in they're the long (wrong) ones (lol), so finally ordered the SRX rods so we'll see what that brings. The other (2nd) set that I had come in had two nuts on them and were a different style, but same length. They were the wrong PN. Then I ordered correct ones for the MM in the double-nut style but was told they were discontinued, so now it's back to waiting for the first type I had in the SRX style.
I know I know I shoulda listened to what you guys said in the first place...... :o| lol
To be continued........

transfer rods

I thought that the transfer rod on the 00 and up mm 141 suspension was different than all the shorter 136 rail suspensions including 121 SRX and SXr. The 97-99 mm 136 was the same as SRX and SXr 121s.
