I was told that if you take 11mm out of the srx pipes you will see hp true or bull.

it is true, but you have to rev the piss out of it to see the gains, not very practical for trail applications

thanks
cutting manifolds
8600-8700rpm is not revving the piss out of it, thats where the power will show up.

The length is cut out of the manifolds, not the pipes. Its worth a couple hp. Lots of little stuff like this is what can make a very strong running SRX. ===SRXSRULE===

Not shrue how much on an srx, but my formula 3 has cut pipes, about 3/4 inch (20mm), and it will run about 300-400 rpm higher, if your looking for maximum gain you'll need cylinder porting and a clutch that is setup right. I wouldn't do it unless you port the motor, or use a thicker base gasket and trail porting. Don't do it if you do alot of trail riding cause you'll notice that fuel mileage will suffer.m2c

sounds like others think diffrent, maybee im wrong but i thought 8350 is where you wanted to be, its what i always was told anyway, but that is without doing alot of motor work. from what i understand is not very practical to be more than that unless you only plan on a stricktlydrag racer with alot of work done to it, then reliability is reduced.

From what i understand about peak horsepower and such, On the srx, stock it is about 8350, BUT with the pipes shortened by ( 11 mm) your peak horsepower now moves to 8600-8700 rpm. Like stated by Mrviper, That is where the power will show up. In my opinion that is not too wild for trail riding,I dont know why people think that anything OTHER than stock is not good for trail riding. 200 RPM is not much at all!
Now, Does anybody have more info on this or what? I guess i should just do it and shut up EH!! LOL

here is a quote from Betheviper
they make more power, at least on the grass. when i grass dragged my viper with srx pipes, the only sleds that i couldnt beet were a prostock 700 cat that run on race gas(he was way out front) and a ported 800 piped viper that was just in front of me(im sure he had alot more hp and not as good a setup)
there was a few other piped vipers and srxes there that was not even close. some of that im sure was setup.
also, the viper cylinder exaust port shape and angle of powervalve was supose to be an improvement on the srx cylinder design.
i think the pipes work great for racing because the muffler and pipes are wrapped so well that the stay hot and work as designed. for racing i use aset of manifolds that were cut 3/8 back to help the pipes effect the motor as if they were at full temp at teh start of the race, not the end.
valin, if your racing with it use the viper box, i was told it was 8deg more advance at 8600 and from swaping boxes, using temp guages, i believe it. use the srx box on the trail.
hey carbon you cheat with your home made manifold hahahahah
