sled has dual smart carbs, mileage went down from 8miles pergal to 5,dealer said carbs were getting belt dust in intakes on carbs, no way to prevent it and cost 247.00 to clean and for diagnosis, any suggestions or similar problem. seems to like gas stations too much.;.

sounds like its time to clean and rebuild your clutches. or put a setup outa the tec pages in there to make it grab the belt harder/perform better.
boy i guess my 02 700 venture was doing poor / 11 mpg pushing it

dealer checked clutches and no problem there. sled only has 1400 miles on it.Maim said:sounds like its time to clean and rebuild your clutches. or put a setup outa the tec pages in there to make it grab the belt harder/perform better.

there isn't necessarily a PROBLEM, but the stock clutching is VERY conservative, and grips the belt very softly, causing lot of belt slip = belt dust. A more aggressive clutch setup would improve that

ya what yamahaulic said lol. i am currently having the same problem with my sxr after i put the ripsaw on it. in low snow conditions it costs me a belt every time. 3 this season so far. but my fuel milage is still the same.
belt slip= bad fuel milage.
try it with an agressive trail setup in clutch. it will make a world of difference.
oh and the oe (dealer) never usually reccomends reclutching a sled. they will tune the crap out of it ususally but wont change weights un less yours are worn out.
