I've installed 8 tooth drivers on my sx-r with a ripsaw....what do I do to the gearing...?

I would leave the gearing alone, ...will give you a little more holeshot and little change if any on your top end, ...I believe your stock gearing is 39/22 @ 1.77 ratio, if you want to maintain this ratio refer to a gearing chart.

if gone to 8 tooth drivers, for exact same gearing as before, you need 24/38...
24/39 will get you close with tiny better btm end and won't have to change btm gear...
assuming you are presently at 22/39 (stock)..
Steve... still looking for Hauck suspension brackets, don't have another set laying around anywhere?..

i found the max performance chart has a few mistakes, the 8t driver 23/39 ratio is wrong and the 23/37 says it can use a 70 pin chain, not according to yamaha, too long, you need the 68, been there and verified it, so watch the specs.
why did you go down to 8T drivers? clearance you can up your top gear 2 teeth should almost perfecly compensate for the drop in drivers, asuming your track is not too long/tall to keep it's top speed down due to excessive drag now.

Guys, forget the charts, it is just simple math . . .
Simple math
Just take the nine tooth equivalent and multiply it by 1.13 for the 8 tooth ratio.

IM trying to get a 24 top gear for my sled also for more speed, the larger the top gear and then match the bottom gear for what ratio you want is suppose to be the most efficient way to run gearing, the larger top gear the less angle the chain moves upon and is suppose to be better, as for the SXR It would be a nice addition forsure, but you live so far away....................my next sled is the 78 SSR im trying to aquire, still int he works yet..
